There’s also the idea that the “satan-worshiping, suicide-advocating heavy metal” was misinterpreted. Examples prior to the strip’s publication include “Night Prowler” (really about sneaking into your girlfriend’s bedroom), “Suicide Solution” (alcoholism), and “Under the Blade” (anxiety before surgery).

Teach them reality while they’re still young. They’ll have more time to assimilate the disappointment.

Just saw Turning Red today. It also features a generation gap difference in musical understanding between parent and child. It’s the first Pixar movie with characters performing music on screen, so the “no musicals” edict didn’t last forever.

on the topic most of the heavy metal bands flirt with the occult imagery without actually crossing over. for an exception look up the band ‘coven’ that actually was a coven of satanists. they came out at the same time as black sabbath but you can see the difference in their career arcs.

For a real laugh, check out their one hit- “One tin soldier.”

You can’t be both a Satan-worshipper AND a nihilist; nihilists don’t believe in Satan any more than they believe in God. Say what you will about the tenets of LaVeyan Satanism, at least it’s an ethos.

Check out Wie Glauben an Nichts (“We Believe in Nothing”), by Autobahn. Or the nihilist Fleetwood Mac cover band, Wie Glauben an Nix.
