Make that Calvin, Hobbes, and whatever they name their new stuffed sambar.

For those who don’t know, sambars are a type of deer that inhabit Southern Asia and are a common prey item for tigers.

Kinda interesting that Watterson specifically chose to reference sambars in particular and not just write “deer” instead.

I hope he’s dreaming of chasing the samba that’s a deer and not the stew.

A sprinting sambar never brought such a smile to my face, but Bill Watterson’s cartoon does.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned Calvin’s use of the word “somnolent”. Quite the education he’s getting for one so adverse to learning.

Sounds like the sambar was delicious. I’m more of a marsbar guy myself.

Sambar appears to be one of two things (maybe more) 1. The sambar powder is used in cooking.

2. The sambar (Rusa unicolor) is a large deer native to the Indian subcontinent, South China, and Southeast Asia that is listed as a vulnerable species on the IUCN Red List since 2008.

I had to google Sambar but at least I can subtract 7 from 11…LOL

I’m assuming Calvin is referencing the deer and not the stew? (I had to look sambar up, I was aware of neither, so this is my new thing for today)

When I googled it, the information is that sambar is a lentil soup that is popular in India.

Sambar: Lentil based vegetable soup. What is there for a tiger to like in that?

Calvin may be awful at doing math but no such issue exists with language arts.
