That was my parent’s rule, too. I couldn’t leave the table until I’d finished everything. It’s why I hid any greenery I could in the metal expansion runners of the kitchen table. Green beans, Lima beans, little pieces of cauliflower. They all went in the guides. One day Mom needed to move it to strip and wax the kitchen floor. Dehydrated garden items went everywhere, old beans skittering across the floor. That was a bad day for me.
(1) He won’t win this one, google or Grandma notwithstanding. Mom gets the final word.
(2) I just hope the next installment doesn’t go to the stupidity of that irritating commercial where the “I won’t eat this!” fight is resolved by mom preparing (and hosannas being sung to) Kraft Macaroni & Cheese.

Ask your grandma. Because she said the same thing to me a few thousand times while I was growing up.

But he didn’t put it on his plate, she did. So he doesn’t have to eat it. Well at least at our house anyway. He did clean his plate .

My mother had a simple rule, you have to try it, don’t have to eat it, just try it. Prevented me and my brother from being picky eaters.

“Today’s Menu: Eat it or starve.” I was brought up in post-war England, that was the rule.

The rule I remember is that you don’t have to eat everything on your plate, but if you took seconds then you had to eat of it.

He shouldn’t have to eat it since he didn’t ask for the second helping you put on his plate.
