They were nice. Yeah. I liked them. Janet has had some really interesting experiences... Did you know that she used to be a nurse? But after a difficult pregnancy she decided to put her career on hold for a few years. It was a high blood pressure thing that runs in her family, who are all still in Michigan except for her brother, who is gay (but don't tell her dad) and lives in California. And guess what! She has that poached salmon recipe I've been looking for and she's going to send it to me next week! What about Ed? He likes golf. What was his name? Ed? Men!

1993: The same year For Better or For Worse ran their gay storyline. It’s amazing how what would be a common storyline in the Teens and Twenties was “controversial/standout” in the Eighties, Nineties, and Aughties. As a gay man dabbling in cartooning himself, I’m glad that there’s more visibility these days, thanks to artists taking the risk to shine a light on topics like these in decades past.
