Been hanging around Stephan Pastis I take it.

It’s a hard knock life.

That SOUNDS about right! ;D

Go for the dead part, it sounds better.

The sound is even better inside his own head.

You say “timbre” I say “tambre”, let’s call the whole thing… a draw and do something else.

When we were at a cottage in early spring last year, we heard the woodpeckers do just that: tap on trees (and the metal exhaust pipe to the outhouse) to enjoy the sound they made

Don’t be a pine in the butt.

Just as a point of detail: “timbre” is pronounced “tamber.” Far from spoiling the joke, though, it opens it up for more possibilities… and I’m always ready for a good timber timbre tumble!

The hollow sound of bark sends me…..

hadn’t thought of it before but xylophones are just timber of good timbre. gotta remember that.

Try to remember the timber’s great timbre when people learned it rhymes with “amber”.
