The Russian Revolution began as striking factory workers were joined by marchers for International Women’s Day in Petrograd (St Petersburg). A week and a day later, the Tsar had abdicated and a republic was proclaimed. Never underestimate the political power of women seeking justice.
I wouldn’t negate this, but having a special day doesn’t always mean that things are equal. Woman were surely thrilled with a whole day to themselves in 1909 when they couldn’t vote until 1920 in the US. (1922 in most of Canada and not until 1940 in Quebec). It would be wonderful if things were even equal now. For everyone.

My guess is women around the world would rather have full equality every day.

And in only 100 years, we’ve achieved full parity in every aspect of life! /s
Of course, we should have started there.

Man, that’s a long day. :)
Enjoy your day whether you are working in an office or queueing at a refugee station.
