Didn’t JJ and Mike get divorced?

The daughter didn’t want to upset Joanie when she took off with the bum.

Joanie hasn’t been following the storyline… But her son demands a lot of attention.

He was. Until she walked out on him for some jerk.

Those who have been Doonesbury fans since the 70’s like me remember when Joanie deserted her family including JJ who was only a kid and eventually ended up living at Walden. JJ is sort of getting back a Joanie for deserting her now

She doesn’t have much contact with her daughter then.

Seems like she is not very involved with her daughter’s or granddaughter’s lives to not now anything of the current situation.

No helicopter parenting here.

I’m still laughing my head off at the wedding invitation arc when Joanie and Rick got married.

What we have here is a failure to communicate (cannot do Justice to the accent)

Maybe somebody should tell Joanie that JJ gave Mike plenty of cause for divorce.

So JJ never told her mom that she left Mike, and Mike hasn’t talked to Joanie since, and apparently even Alex has never mentioned that mom left? And I don’t recall if the original run of this strip ever specifically mentioned that JJ & Mike divorced, but they must have. Maybe it was a quickie no-fault divorce?

Correction, Joanie. Your daughter is a self-absorbed nitwit, which is why Mike is marrying Kim.

Will anyone notice? Tomoro or the next day we’re going to pass the million-casualty mark for COVID in America.

I am sensing a spanner in the works. JJ never signed the paperwork, she and Mike are still technically married which means Mike and Kim cannot get married (yet).
