Here’s a tip for the Dears (and anyone else troubled by dog hair becoming one with the car’s carpet):
Get an inexpensive hallway runner or other small rug of the appropriate shape and size – indoor/outdoor carpets are brilliant for this purpose – and put it down over the carpet or upholstery you want to protect. The non-skid backing will keep it in place so your dog can ride securely. These rugs come in a wide variety of colors, so you’re sure to find something that will match your car pretty well. When things get too hairy, pull the rug out for cleaning; if it gets worn out, it’s cheap to replace. I used one to protect the seats on my car for nearly ten years before the backing started to disintegrate; I replaced it last year for about 15 bucks.
My late loving wife was a Pet Groomer, she couldn’t always get all of the hair off of her. She would use a power blower at work and then there were times we just drove on the freeway with the windows down and watched the hair fly. :)
That’s a running gag between my husband & younger daughter. He always threatens to have her sit on the car roof & she always counters with, “Cool! Can I?” They have similar senses of humor.

Don’t be silly, if he’s on the roof rack, how’s he gonna stick his head out the window?
