I believe a shplourk is a kind of eating utensil that makes a large splash when you dip it in your gazpacho.

Well, that’s just all smurfed up.

However, being a feminist is considered to be a quirky trait.

And gazpacho is the secret of keeping Regular Shplourk regular.

I’d say that it was more like their defining traits, rather than quirks. And being the only female (for a while, at least) was pretty a pretty defining characteristic.
