Only person i know who ever got a jay walking ticket, got it because they stopped in the middle of the road and got hit by traffic. If they had gone to the median before stopping and no collision occurred they would not have been charged.

Just pay the fine and also thank him for saving your life. If you didn’t notice him because of your inattention, you probably wouldn’t have noticed the Mac Truck driver that wasn’t paying and almost hit you….

My daughter has been pulled over once in her life. She didn’t get a ticket but the cop warned her about speeding and reckless driving.

She was on her bicycle. Everything the cop said was legit.

I got a j-walking ticket when I lived in LA back in ‘77. Parked across the street from the store I was going to visit which was in the middle of the block. It wasn’t a particularly busy street. I think the cop didn’t like the long hair hippy look I had those days. I left town a few weeks later and never looked back.

A cop was directing traffic but was able to take the time to write a citation?

I live in a tourist town and see jaywalkers absolutely constantly. One is wise to drive slowly down main street, because people (including families with little ones!) pop out from between cars suddenly and might even “make a break for it.”
