HOA’s aren’t that bad. On my side of the street you can’t have more than two unrelated persons living in a house. This is a college town and the other side of the street can have as many residents in a house. This plays havoc with cars. The driveways don’t hold everyone in the house plus visitors park up and down the street and in front of my house.
I’ve dealt with HOA’s like this before. Just depends on who’s running them as how they try to mess with you. You get someone who think they’re God, and the world revolves around them, it’ s going to be a struggle.
Sounds like the HOA in a Denver CO suburb – https://www.9news.com/article/news/local/green-valley-ranch-hoa-foreclosures-advocates-investigation/73-2b6eb77e-cf8e-49f1-b3aa-eafd0848694a
Got a letter from our HOA about 15 years ago concerning “weeds” in the side yard. It was a volunteer cedar tree growing next to our required Ash tree. I sent them pictures of the multiple Thistle growing in the bushes in their green areas, got an apology letter. Unfortunately the weeds took a couple of months to be removed.

Another reason I would never live in an area with a home owners association.
local government and the building department harass you enough so you want to give Joe citizen a right to harass you as well ?dadoctah over 2 years ago
Nice work. Because you’re the one that pulled the weed, you can probably count on a hefty fine for using an unapproved landscaping service.

But we’re going to have to do a special one time assessment to pay me for doing the work of the landscape crew.

I have designated my weeds as “native plants” and my yard as a native plant reserve. OK…and there is no HOA in my area…just nice neighbors.

My front yard is a flood zone, will never have neighbors across the street.
