He lasts longer than my father-in-law did at that age.

While my lovely wife has seen all of season 2 of Bridgerton, I’ve only seen about a quarter of it, for the same reason.

For his birthday husband got big TV. In normal times went to the movies at least weekly (sincefirst date in the early 1970s) & barring bad weather would go on a date on Saturday night – dinner & movie (started with dinner at McDonalds or similar, then went to diner for dinners & before we stopped going out due to Covid dinner at Wendys – back at the start again).

Have tried to keep up dates past 2 years with movie on TV after dinner Saturday night & since started going out a bit again would pick up Chinese food for dinner. He decided we will never go to the movies again (hate those uncomfortable recliner seats & the one independent theater without them & went to weekly is still “temporarily closed”). So for his birthday he wanted a big TV, way beyond what would ordinarily spend on gift or anything else not a major need. Took him months of looking & planning (including taking a week of my limited accountants time which needed to be used for doing tax returns so we could pay for the TV (and table to put it on and everything else it needs to work – plus he decided we need blackout curtains in the living room).

We have to sit on chairs “next to each other” like we do in the movies according to him. I had planned to sit on the end of the sofa and face the TV on a slight angle, but NO, I cannot do that – it will ruin the entire thing. So last Saturday night was our first time with the TV. I had to sit on the shortest chair he could find – and yet my feet were still not touching the floor and were falling asleep. I had said that I do not like these TVs as they are too bright (cannot look at them in stores). He told me that in stores they are on a special setting to be brighter than normal. So what movie does he chose? “Death on the NIle”! A movie where they are in desert sun for a good chunk of it and it is soooooo bright that I had to sit with my eyes closed.

And yes – while watching the TV he had to have – he fell asleep in a kitchen chair watching!
