Years ago,I encountered Whitey Ford at a MODELL’S autograph session.

I asked him about the failed 1963 World Series—-and rumor that Frank Howard(who destroyed the Yanks all series) hit a ball that started out going between Ford’s legs and going over the head of the center fielder.

Ford denied it.
