I think I’ll keep my commute – 3 miles, ten minutes if I hit all the lights red. Of course then driving the school bus put another twist on it, but that was paid. ;-)
By Mapquest, it is 13.5 hours’ driving time to go from El Paso, Texas (the westernmost city in the state) to Texarkana, which is literally on the border of Texas and Arkansas.
Note that this assumes you hop in a vehicle at the randomly designated spot in El Paso (which is off of I-10) and continue to travel at posted speed limits until you arrive at the randomly designated spot in Texarkana.
Instead of a mere 3 hours, anyone seeking to traverse Texas in this fashion would need 3 days to ensure time for sleep, refueling stops, and meal breaks.
Similarly per Mapquest, it is over 13 hours from Perryton, which is near the top of the Texas Panhandle (and a stone’s throw from Guymon, Oklahoma), to McAllen, which is on the Texas / Mexico border and near to the Gulf Coast.

You can become friends with the couple in the car next to yours. Maybe.

Might make it to San Bernardino if they’re lucky.

For those wondering how big Texas is -

Again, that’s just direct drive time.
So… who’s up for a road trip? :)
