I had a neighbor who used gasoline to start his charcoal. If you wait exactly the right amount of time before tossing the match, the fireball will strip the paint off of your garage door.
Personally, I use a chimney to start my charcoal. Designed for newspaper (which is recyclable), but instead I use the paper towels I used to wipe up grease the previous time.

Set the can on the grill to warm it up before you add more. You’ll be amazed at how well it works.
