My biggest form of “rebellion”: When I was a teenager I shared my room with my grandmother. She had a huge console TV, which I was forbidden to touch. I was also forbidden to watch the show “Soap”. Well, “Soap” just happened to be on the same night that my grandmother went out with friends, so I’d turn it on, have the volume down Soooooo low (I had to practically sit on top of the TV to hear it) & watch. My first episode was the one immediately following the death of Peter Campbell. (Yeah, as far as rebellion goes…I’m a bit of a wimp.)
Babysat my nieces and nephew and watched Gremlins. I didn’t realize that it would scare the snot out of them. I was told by the parents to NOT ever do that again.
Many years ago, I was flipping channels and came across the British movie-of-a-stage-musical Jerry Springer: The Opera ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerry_Springer:_The_Opera ), with David Soul in the title role. I thought that it was a hoot.
I eventually found a DVD on eBay, but it turned out to be Region 2 (Europe etc.). However, on the day that I was to pick up a Region2-to-Region1 copy at a local “International communications” shop, I picked up a DVD player at a computer swap meet, and it turned out to be multi-region. So, now I have one translated copy of the DVD (without menus and extras and such DVD stuff) that I can play on my regular equipment, and another with a player whose only purpose on my shelves is to play that one DVD.
It was pretty controversial (picketed an the premiere, calls for banning, etc.), and I don’t know if there ever was a Region 1 DVD, so I don’t imagine that it would be very easy to find or play in North America. But I certainly recommend it as good blasphemous, irreverent, and nasty fun.

well done, Paige, you unintentionally made Katie O’Dell learn new vocabulary, making you about to lose your baby-sitting service

the curses are bleeped out on morning television, so the child is probably just literally saying “beep” since that’s what she heard

I wonder if this Jerzy Spaniel is anything like Jerry Springer.
