The one thing about money or a gift credit card is that you can be sure that whatever she spends it on is something she wants. However cash is very tacky for a wife gift. Jewelry on the other hand is usually appreciated and rarely criticized by the recipient. (My wife jewelry box looks like a treasure chest from the Tower of London.) Incorporating that with a lavish meal at a nice restaurant is a winning duo. A weekend away for the wife by herself at a spa resort could fit the bill. A romantic getaway for the husband and and wife sans the children could also be nice. However, the old standby of candy, flowers and breakfast in bed and a family outing for the day without the mother-in-law is what I think she really wants. In essence, show that she is appreciated all the year long but especially on this special day set aside just for her……
