Many years ago I lived in a small apartment with two cats. I kept the litter box in the only bathroom. Whenever I used the facility and came out, my one cat would go in and sniff around the litter box and then come out without doing his business. I think he was just checking to see if I used the box .

They all have their little idiosyncrasies.

Cats do not like any doors to be closed.

Every house cat, everywhere.
