I supervised people twice in my career, once in a pizza place and once in a small metal trades job shop where my employees didn’t speak English. I managed to get along with the employees in both places and get the work done but I don’t think I ever impressed anyone as executive material. :)
Having worked at a servo of a world wide petroleum company I can certify that choose any district manager (“looks after” a group of servos in an area) you are 95% certain to get a mean, cr@ppy, dominating, self centred being.

I had this problem! You end up being promoted but you don’t fit the mold. That doesn’t mean I’m not weird, though.

It’s why I spent 40 years as a worker never becoming a supervisor. I’ve been told I was weird not to promote.
