Don’t do it, Laura! Even if you retain complete creative control they will figure out some way to butcher your book so it has absolutely no resemblance to the book. So many great books that have been butchered by movie or TV scripts. It just galls me that TV and movie script writers/producers think they can produce a better product than the authors originally wrote.
Everybody else remembers Adam’s jealousy over Laura’s success. I only remember readers expecting Adam to be jealous and Adam being proud of Laura. Can anyone direct me to the strips I seem to have forgotten?

She’d only be a movie star if she acted in the movie and was a big hit.

And then they’ll put it on Netflix and charge people twice to see it (cable access fee plus pay-channel fee).

Katy would only want to be a star in movies featuring ponies.

I hope Laura will retain creative control of the script.
There have been some authors who foolishly relinquish all rights, and then the studios butcher their work!!

Sort of vaguely following an “As Time Goes By” story line. Though this sounds a little better than “My Life In Kenya”. …maybe?

so… did her mother write the novel about her daughter? Is that why she thinks she will be a star???

I don’t think so Katie, Pixar doesn’t use live actors.

Oh boy. Another reason for Adam to go bonkers (in his own Silent ways). Should be a good arc!

Hollywood will probably turn the novel into unrecognizable garbage… like they did with “The power of One”.
