I just read today an online story that a PINT of Samuel Adams Summer Ale beer at NYC Port Authority airports restaurants/bars has been selling for $27.85. YES! A PINT!!!
Must be a healthy place to drink. Andy won’t catch a draft there. Also at £15 a pint, Andy won’t be getting mugged either. He’ll just have to hop to another Pub which will barley remember him. And with Chalkie around he won’t be lager ly in buying a pint of good cheer.
42 years ago I went to Germany for a few weeks and found a pub that served dunkelbier [dark beer] that was absolutely delicious. I’ve been trying to find that beer ever since then. I recently ran across a six-pack of kinderbier [kids beer] that may be it. It cost me $36 for 6 11-ounce cans, and I’ll be getting it next week. If this is really the stuff, I think there’s an American version that I can get much cheaper.
@charliefarmrhere- I’m not surprised. They can get away with that because #1, they’re the Port Authority and #2, they know that majority of people who are traveling have money. And they know that most people are on vacation expecting to spend money. And you have all types of rich and wealthy people coming through there where spending $27 for a pint of beer to them is like spending 27 cents! That reminds me of a story of when NBA legend Charles Barkley was playing for the Dream Team and he went into a bar and ordered a beer and the waitress told him $20. Even Charles with all his millions said “$20 for a beer??”

That is just too much to owe someone for a beer.

Sometimes the instead of getting the bums rush, the bums rush themselves, eh Andy?

Yeah, but it’s snooty upper class beer, not the sort of stuff average folks would appreciate.

One of the reasons he can’t afford a pint. A packet of cigarettes here costs over £10.

Andy left voluntarily before he could be thrown out. That seems to justify the place’s superior attitude.

The only reason to charge that much is to keep guys like Andy out.
Now the question is, do you want to sit and drink with guys who can afford 15 pounds a glass?

The price shouldn’t bother Andy anyway, when was the last time he paid for ANYTHING.

It wasn’t the price of a pint at the Palace that bothered Andy, it was that he didn’t know anyone drinking there who he could hit up for a pint.

I guess Andy can’t find enough people to mooch off to collect 15 pounds. Still I can’t blame Andy. That’s an outrageous price for a pint.

Andy still believes “A pint is a pound, all the world round.” refers to the price of ale.
