It is very handy if you have to step away from the computer regularly.

I’ve never seen a single employee sitting in any office supply store. (No married ones either.)

When my wife started WHF, I built a standing desk for her. She also has a tall chair, should she want to sit.

Certainly got lots of mileage logged as a Network Admin, I preferred to lay hands on rather than remotely fixing an issue. In the scheme of centralized IT, a big no-no and led to constant arguments with bosses.

I once requested, and my boss bought me, one of those “Chairs” for back relief (I was going to include a link to one, but a Google Search didn’t show me any!). It had no back; you knelt on a padded cross-piece. It was very comfortable, but after awhile, it really got to your knees. As I recall, it cost over $300, and it was just a few pieces of wood and some padding (and this was over 30 years ago!)…

Lots of us used standings desks at my last job. (We could choose.) I came to prefer it.

I try to get up from my desk every 20 – 30 minutes and do some stretches. Having a house full of dogs (3 Newfie/Lab mixes is full) and cats, there are times when no one is sitting still.

Since I found myself suddenly working from home a few years ago, I picked up a sit-stand desk with Trump’s 1st stimulus check. I have not sat down since, at least while working from home, and I find my actual office desk more uncomfortable.

We got desks you could adjust to a standing desk or sit at. Standing was nice about 20% of the time. It was nice to have the choice.

Looks like an old drafting table. With a tilt feature it’s a drawing board.
