Why is it that while the deficit always goes up under Republican presidents and goes down under Democratic presidents the Democratic presidents always get blamed ?

Gee, why didn’t Ramirez use this logic for all the bailouts and loans the banks and businesses were given? Why not make corporate bankruptcy illegal?

It sees the only person being a dunce here is the cartoonist.

Good thing we got rid of the old Judeo-Christian tradition of the Year of Jubilee when all debts were forgiven. American Christians must NEVER follow the Bible or we’ll lose money.

Ramirez is letting you know his belief in predatory lending with extremely debilitating rates and fees for the fun and profit of banks and other business interests in a person’s pursuit of an education.

I am a strong believer in people paying debts. What bothers me is the inconsistency, and I suspect some hypocrisy, exhibited by those so upset by these proposals. For example:

    https://www.cbsnews.com/chicago/news/new-york-times-report-president-trump-got-much-of-his-debt-forgiven-after-defaulting-on-loans-for-chicago-trump-tower/

That’s just one case. It happens all the time. Including gov’t cancelling businesses debts. I know that it’s a private business making a decision, but how is it different in action? Shouldn’t there be SOME protection/relief for young people who may have been the victims of unscrupulous, predatory loan agencies? What of biblical pronouncements condemning usury?

There may be some truth to this. It appears he doesn’t know the meaning of the word “accommodate”, either. Or does he? Hmmm.

Wow Michael, maybe you should learn the meaning of the term “forgive a loan”, because it isn’t a new concept… why do you only have a problem if it is students that are forgiven? Why didn’t you complain about the 400 billion in corporate COVID loans that the government forgave?

Let’s say it very slowly for Ramirez. The deficit has gone down under Biden compared with Trump.

The deficit exploded under Republicans and Democrats, but particularly under trump.

President Trump took office in 2017. By the end of his one term four years later, he was estimated to hold $6.6 trillion in deficits, a 33% increase.

In contrast, President Obama. By the end of his final budget, FY 2017, his budget deficits totaled $6.781 trillion over his eight years in office.

Political cartoonists (on both sides) have no intentions of being fair, or even accurate. They draw to make people angry and often their work is nothing more than hyperbole. Unfortunately, a large portion of the audience actually believes these in cartoons as fact. A sad commentary on the lack of wisdom and judgment of too many Americans.

I’m suprised that so many missed the point of the cartoon . It’s a jab at the idea of cancelling student loan debt .

Student loans are unusual for many reasons, the biggest of which is the utter imbalance of information between the parties. It’s not a fair decision.

How about all those Covid loans businesses don’t have to pay back. Seeing as Mitch McConnell’s wife’s corporation was the largest benefactor of those, but, oh right, it’s OK for rich Republicans to take loans they don’t have to pay back, but some poor college kid trying to eek out an existence, ooo how terrible to help them out.

For those saying, I didn’t get that, well I haven’t gotten a lot of things other people did. You’d better look at, especially, the older you are, how much less expensive it was and how much further even minimum wage went back then.

As for me, I’m always OK with helping poor and working family kids get a good education. Which is the majority of the people that will benefit from this. If only the wealthy can get a good education, we will miss out on a lot of brilliant minds, and be stuck with more boofing buffoons on the Supreme Court.

It will also boost the economy, as without being saddled with these loans, they will be better able to start families, buy houses etc. Don’t get me wrong, many will likely run out and get a new or newer car first. We are a nation that loves our cars, but the rest will fall into place as well.

Too many worry about what they perceive others are getting, rather than focusing on their own personal needs.

Explain that to Wall Street and the Banks that created the mortgage lending crisis. How many freebies do they get before they have to pay back their “too big to fail” money? $1.9 trillion is nothing when you consider those loan repayments will actually go back into the economy.
