What is worse, a plastic balloon or bleeping floating lanterns in the middle of a drought? (I called the police on the guy, this was a wedding, I still don’t feel any regret).

I live on a farm and the darn things are stuck in trees and laying out in the fields all around here. A real nuisance.

Plastic, the black cloud of human demise on the horizon. Plastic micro-balls are everywhere, they’ve even been found in human placenta. Still, we kid ourselves that CO² is the enemy to be feared.

The deer is right, we produce too much trash. Either we need to reduce our refuse, or find better ways to dispose of it.

the Indy 500 folks, after many years of refusal, finally suspended the spectacle of the release of hundreds of balloons

just before the start of the race.

    better late than never

Thank you for this portrayal, Adrian. Balloon releases need to stop, period. Animals can ingest them or become tangled in the tether, no matter the material. Many, if not most balloons released these days are mylar, bad for the environment, and at best they are snagging in trees and other objects, landing in the ocean and basically just trashing up the world some more. Same goes for the flaming lantern release, mentioned by someone else here. When will humans ever stop being so self-centered and thoughtless about the rest of the planet and its inhabitants?
