One of my favorite singer/songwriters, John Stewart, got his start in the Kingston Trio. I have just about everything he ever put out. He passed in ’06, I believe.
Many years ago I remember going to a concert with Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. They were all the originals, but there was a back up singer for Frankie because he couldn’t hit the high notes anymore. It was a pretty seamless transition, actually.
i always smile when i see that the ventures are still touring japan every year, as were simon and garfunkel, last time i checked. and no doubt many other “oldies” acts…
