I was losing faith in public schools until my grandson got an assignment to read and critique Animal Farm. He read 1984 on his own. I dared him to read Atlas Shrugged and Brave New World.
I suspect that most younger readers would be clueless with this having not read or even heard of its inspiration, the novel ‘Animal Farm’ by George Orwell. If so, get a copy and prepare yourself for a very unnerving experience.
George Orwell is kinda like Dick Tracy: who knew that the two-way wrist radio would actually be a thing? Who knew George Orwell’s world would be a thing? Poor pig. He’s not going to like what he finds out.
