That explains why the other squirrels went ballistic in Beatrix Potter’s book Timmy Tiptoes when they heard a bird singing, “Who’s been digging up my nuts?”
Or the person who owns the property. I’m so tired of pulling up acorn saplings (oak tree saplings) that I can’t stand it. We don’t even have a squirrel nest in our tree. I don’t even see a nest in neighbor’s trees. AAAAAGGGGHHHH!!!
Interesting, but 50% of nuts is just one nut. lol, lmao, hardy-har..etc….

I know about that street in Bellefontaine because I live pretty close to it. But I don’t know what the big deal is about it. Everything has to have a “first” at some point or another, right?

I once read that squirrels don’t even remember where they buried their stored nuts. They find them again by sniffing them out.

I could swear that Ripley’s ran the “Tidsoptimist” definition before. I remember clipping it out of the newspaper. Anyone else know?

Another 25 per cent or so of the squirrels nuts are lost to bad memory, thereby contributing to the regeneration of trees.

I was walking through a forest the other day when I noticed a little squirrel sitting on a tree trunk, his right hand clenched into a fist.
“What have you got there? A hazelnut?” He shook his head.
“An almond then?” He shook his head again.
“Is it a berry?” Nothing.
“Tell me, what is it?”
“A cramp.”
