Try Russian gypsy music. As Alex Hassilev said in the introduction to “Gari Gari”, “You know some Russian Gypsy songs have as their theme, so to speak, how happy it is to be miserable. Others say how miserable it is to be happy. Well gents, this one’s different, it’d say, how miserable it is to be miserable.”
My dad subscribed to Down Beat for years but in the 70’s he stopped getting it. When my parents moved to Arizona, he decided to try it again, but after a couple of issues he told me, “I don’t know any of these cats!”
I was at Georgia Tech in Atlanta when one of my buddies suggested we go to The “The-La-Carousel Club” (yes, you had to leave the first “The” on) which was a jazz bar. I was told that when the music started I had to snap my fingers on the up-beat ). Oh, yeah, I had it down!! We were SO cool! Especially after four or five scotches. Jazz does sound a lot better with scotch.

Even odder fact, that band’s vocalist is Jeff Gramm, former Senator Phil Gramm’s son.

I like Scotts’s smart ass humor. Hey, Scott, how about working a Rocket Man/Elon Musk encounter?

The most depressing song ever written has to be Dust In The Wind. After listening to that, anything will seem cheerful.
The I Fear Ikea song is a good antidote.
