This reminds me of an old sketch performed at my summer camp. One boy shouts, “Salami!” and it echoes four times. The other boy shouts, “Baloney!” but it only echoes three times. He asks, "What happened to the fourth “Baloney!?” Then he shouts, “The camp owner’s a good guy!” This, too, echoes three times, followed by the fourth “Baloney!”
I agree with Pam up to a point but usually the goal of people who want to share their different beliefs with you is to make you adopt their beliefs and then echo chamber them. Very few people have the ability to discuss varied points of view objectively.
Listen to different viewpoints, analyze them, weigh their strengths and weaknesses, then continue to believe what you already believe. That is the path to enlightenment.

People need to be exposed to different ideas, so they can see how silly they are.
