Six years ago I bought a small steel frame pool for $100. It’s a 14 footer with 42" walls. And, while it is a bother to treat the water and clean away the trash, the cooling, splashing, swimming and floating it affords is well worth it. It, and the three pumps I’ve purchased and all the chemicals and other supplies was still quite a good bargain.

My eldest sister got a prefab “play pool”. The hole the contractor dug was a foot too shallow, so he raised the yard.
