I am not sure why Mike thinks Rhetta would disparage the bowtie. For the first thing, Rhetta is also wearing a bowtie. And for the second thing, bowties are cool.
Ah. I called it. And you naysayers who said they did not not look alike. With a frontal face, we can see the same eyes. He just has lighter-colored hair.
The hurdles young love must face and conquer. At that age rational thought generally comes in third in a two man race. But oh the fun running the race.
I just love the way people on this board disect characters’ looks for ethnicity and pick at every feature and try to classify the characters’ belonging, meanwhile forgetting that this strip is set in Canada which is fully desegregated , even in Quebec which considers itself a separate nation in Canada.
Our friends have told us that in Canada there are absolutely no segragated neighborhoods, the way there are in the States. People there might have a complete United Nations on their street. The kids play with each other and they don’t ask each other from what country they arrived, since they were born and raised in that neighborhood. They go to school together, and eventually they marry each other.
No one in Canada raises an eye about intermarriage which is as common as maple syrup.
So…..I was the dweeb from work my wife decided to go out with…..we celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary this past May. Sometimes is just works out for a dweeb from work!
Hubby and I met at work. I had no problem with going out with someone from work. (We didn’t work in the same department, but worked the same evening shift). One of my coworkers vigorously played matchmaker. And he was considered a “dork” by a few people. (Whose opinions I couldn’t have cared less about). But I don’t see a problem with high school kids dating even if they work at the same place. And Big Brother’s opinion of Mike is just dumb – he’s never even met him.

You’re gonna have to tell Mike this guy’s your brother. Or he’ll never ask you out.

I hope Mike’s not driving his father’s car again.
With his distracted driving, he might end up doing more than getting lost!!
