Did you hear about that trainload of people who all got a cold on the same day?

Does anyone else remember the TV commercial for a cold remedy called Contact:

“A summer cold is a different animal,

An ugly animal, EWWW!

It hits you in the summer,

When you’ve got a lot to do!!"

BTW, those Contact capsules really packed a punch; maybe that’s why they’re off the market.

I’ve tried positive mental energy to keep the aging process at bay

That there was about the most negative, positive mental attitude, I’ve ever heard. Mary Poppins would be aghast.

That nose was not stingy. It was very generous with sniffles and dribbles.

I wish I could have done that with strep throat when I was a kid. Then I wouldn’t have had to go to the doctor who had zero sympathy for a kid who was terrified by throat cultures.

Ah yes, like the coworker who magically powers through their cold to a miraculous recovery back at the office—only to get half of the staff sick with the same bug. Stay home. You’re not impressing anyone.

By “a stingy nose” does Katy mean a nose that hurts — “stings” — or one that is “ungenerous” — which, in context, doesn’t make much sense?
