Timmy, bare feet are a good way to make sure you don’t get to play the way you want the rest of summer. Whether it’s a sliver of glass or a baby pushing a stroller, a bandage or a cast and crutches will keep you out of the pool. I ruined a whole summer by stepping on a pop top (an ancient device used to open a drink can). The song Margaritaville even references that problem.

The picnic goes from bad to worse, although now I am hungry for a hamburger, with mushrooms and avocado, but no ketchup.

I count 15 things to laugh at in this strip. The pace of the jokes really conveys the overwhelming variety of stimuli Petey would find at a picnic.

Even without the seeds, you’ve just blown your picky eater rating Petey.

The novelty would wear off quickly, Alice, especially when she uses Polyfill as a teething soother.

I think Petey is becoming delirious from overstimulation. Is he really about to tank his picky eater rating?

Petey and Alice think in very different directions, while poor Banjo Man Timmy Fretwork gets run over by dangerous toddler Inez, sister of Beni.

Sometimes a picnic isn’t fun, even with pickle chips….
