If lizard people don’t exist why does Trump look so much like a gila monster?

Douglas Adams covered this.“It comes from a very ancient democracy, you see…"“You mean, it comes from a world of lizards?”“No,” said Ford “nothing so simple. Nothing anything like so straightforward. On its world, the people are people. The leaders are lizards. The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people.”“Odd,” said Arthur, “I thought you said it was a democracy.”“I did,” said Ford. “It is.”“So,” said Arthur “why don’t people get rid of the lizards?”“It honestly doesn’t occur to them,” said Ford. “They’ve all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they’ve voted in more or less approximates to the government they want.”“You mean they actually vote for the lizards?”“Oh yes,” said Ford “of course.”“But,” said Arthur “why?”“Because if they didn’t vote for a lizard,” said Ford, “the wrong lizard might get in.”

People talk about the issues in the world, but they ain’t doing anything to prevent them.

Not all humans understand the problem. Many don’t see the problem.

Many who think they know how to fix it really don’t. Many “fixes” create other problems and sometimes even make things worse.

Many others act and talk as if it’s the only problem (that’s important).

For many people, there other problems in their lives that are more immediate and more important.

The government is way too dysfunctional to claim anyone is running it. The Lizard People would be an improvement.

Aw yes, everyone who disagrees with me just believes a baseless conspiracy theory that is not worthy of an ounce of consideration. If you defy the narrative, even a little out of genuine concern for the truth, you ought to be silenced so that no one disrupts the consensus. It’s not about lizard people, it’s about people in power using fear to control the masses, just like they always have.

I’m not sure we actually know how to fix it. Ameliorating it a bit at this point would be a huge step. (the real solution to most human problems is dealing with unrestrained population growth, but no one wants to talk about that for some reason)
