One of the reasons for high health care costs is that hospitals MUST take people in the emergency room whether they can pay or not. So the extra cost is passed on to the rest of us.
America has chosen to pick up the cost for these expensive visits because we don’t want to pay for the high blood pressure medications that would have prevented the stroke or the diabetes medication that would have prevented the amputation or congestive heart failure. Or even routine physicals to cut off other diseases before they become catastrophic.
Why pay for an ounce of prevention when we can fork over huge $$$ for the pound of cure? Let’s hope the patient dies since follow-up care also takes money out of OUR pockets. Since you can’t put a dollar figure on human suffering, let’s just ignore it.
People are unwilling to research a diet that will help prevent the onset of illness related to their diet. The cost of the scans to find out what is causing their failing health alone can put you out of house and home. I tried telling someone about my experience, which not only reduced my pain levels to bearable but I went from a size 18 to a size 6. (I don’t use a scale). I was accused of fat shaming. One woman I explained it to said I was lucky. Another woman said she preferred her French food, poutine and such but later asked me for my recipes because she had just been diagnosed with diabetes.

Ah, the sweet smell of the rich getting richer by rationing health care. Is it a great country or what‽
