After locking myself out of the car several times, I now have a door key in my wallet. Carribeaners are great for organizing keys by home, office, etc. For losing/misplacing keys you could try a “Find my Keys Device” sold on Amazon.
We have magnetic hooks on the side of our refrigerator. My main hook has house keys, keys to van and car, our mail box at house, key to our box at the PO, and a couple that when I just looked – have apparently not been used since pandemic started as I have no idea what they are. It is a break apart key ring and the other side has the keys to our garage and sheds.
On a different magnetic hook I have a separate ring which is from another break in half ring with the keys to our RV (so that attaches to main ring and the other break off ring is left home when traveling.
Husband has a similar setup in a different assortment of which is on his ring/hook.
Also on the refrigerator are two magnetic pockets. In mine is my wallet, Space pen, stylus, eyeglass case with my progressive lens glasses which are also poly chromatic, some store coupons, my small bottle of hand sanitizer and my small spray bottle of alcohol (having had bed bugs I will not go anywhere with the latter).
The other magnetic pocket holds what husband needs to go out.
Since we go in and out through the kitchen and have to pass the refrigerator – it is rare that we forget to take what we need with us – one stop “shopping”.
Like carb944 I keep a car key in my wallet as I am (or was before the pandemic) more likely to be out alone with the car. This is not as easy as it used to be with the electronic keys which are too thick for my wallet – I don’t carry a purse.

I clip mine on my belt loops. Carribeaners for keys are key.

Same old routine. No thought of needing them later.

You can account for bad memory by establishing a routine.
