That is true. One of my cousins whom I used to speak with regularly, recently moved from North Carolina to Ghana which has an eight hour time difference.
There was a company in Seattle that made aftermarket parts for Volvo. They would print transcripts in their catalog of idiotic messages left in their voice mail, mostly from New Yorkers that didn’t understand time zones.
Back before everybody had unlimited long-distance, Hubby’s brother lived in California, and would wait until the rates went down at 11 PM. It was 2 AM in Baltimore. After a few times of this idiocy Hubby got up at 0-dark ugly and called his brother in the middle of the night. Sister-in-law answered the phone.

I’m thinking about M*A*S*H* and Radar trying to put calls through from Korea to the US (Or having to wake someone who had a call from home).
