For a Plugger, pants can defy physics. I’ve never understood how my pants can fit snug around my waist and still fall off over my not-flat rear end while standing but moving around.
I’ve had the ‘flat back’ problem my whole life — no butt and a rounded tummy (granted it has gotten much rounder over the years). Any pair of pants that fits the front is super baggy in the back. When I was in college, hiphuggers were in style and they fit perfectly if I wore them backwards. Can do the same now if the slacks don’t have pockets.
Nevermind how flat the ’ole pluggers butt can get, still must wear a long enough shirt to cover the ’ole plummers butt. Even Tim the Toolman Taylor sold buttcrack spackle.
Husband has a hernia which he does not want to do anything about. He has had it for years if not a couple of decades. Almost all his physical problems come from it and it makes him look heavier than he is.
Due to it his pants sit lower in the front as they have to sit below it, then they do in the back. Due to this his pants are always sliding down and he swears at his belt – which he made (among the various crafts we do and have sold over the years is leatherworking).
Adding to this problem he carries an excessive amount of things in his jeans pockets which further weight down his jeans. (I do not carry a purse and carry everything I need is my jeans pockets – they stay up around my fat self with the elastic in jeans and nothing else so I have knowledge of his general situation with his jeans.)
He tried wearing suspenders, but they hurt his shoulders (due to the amount of excess junk he carries in his pockets – some of which he carries only because he had done so since high school or college – decades before a cell phone had to be added into the mix – that hangs from his belt and is a major weight pulling everything down.
I keep explaining if he had the hernia fixed his pants would stay up better and he would be a lot more comfortable – and wear a smaller size pants.

If you have a bulky wallet that will make you look less flat.

I have been there for a decade now. No clip-on suspenders for me, I use metal buttons riveted to my pants.

I know some pear-shaped Pluggers who don’t have this problem.

Had to start buying ‘Slim’ Levi’s to better fit my butt. However, I don’t think Slim Jeans works for the guy.

Personally, I’m a belt AND suspenders kind of guy, even after retirement.
