My parents always asked that I try one full bite; If I didn’t like it, then I didn’t have to finish it and I’d not be asked to eat it again. It gave me control of what I did or didn’t eat throughout my childhood, and I learned that certain foods may look bad, but are actually pretty tasty. I still won’t eat “Canned Peas”, but the frozen ones steamed or fresh from the garden are my faves.
My mother was always trying to get me to eat green beans, but I just didn’t like them. She would be proud to know that now, I eat them on a fairly regular basis.

If that were my kid, she wouldn’t have that choice.

Canned peas right out of the can, split pea soup, frozen peas steamed in butter. All good.

Pease porridge in the pot, 8000 years old.
(For those of you who care about this sort of stuff, the word pea was invented when the older word pease was mistaken for a plural.)

Peas are nasty. I ran away from home rather than eat my peas one night. So, I empathize with that kid.

Just pour some melted cheese on the peas and the kid will devour them before you can put the pot in the sink.

They are definitely not the worst of vegetables. Might want to mix them with rice or other vegetables to introduce them to kids…..

At almost 70, I’m still compelled to ‘clean up my plate’ no matter what is on it.

I really hated canned peas I used to dump them down the hot air vent under where I sat, there must have been a pile of dried peas under there.
