Bird reminds me of Gaston in Disney’s Beauty And The Beast, who thought that Belle’s terming him “primeval” (she meant that he was basically an ape in human guise) was a compliment.
(except Gertie actually did the equivalent of flat-out calling Bird “ape” and not even using the fancy word “primeval”)
Much as I do not want to encourage your rants “NotNorman” - sorry, but many of your posts are just that - “imbecile” is not an appropriate assignation to someone who keeps the Diner in good order while the (1) Owner; (2) Cook(s); (3) Dishwasher(s) decide to go on their own pursuits of happiness while leaving her alone to try to cover.
It’s interesting that Jim has introduced some relatively realistic-looking characters, whereas the long-standing characters retain the Dick Moores style…
I think our NotNorman has a secret crush on Gertie. He’s just jealous of the Bird. NN! Compare Bird to every other employee Corky has ever had, he’s easily employee of the year material.
