Slim may be stupid, but he’s so gracious! His mother would be proud of that.

This is gonna be a good storyline.

He was born that way marktrail.

Now it finally comes clear. Rev. Peacegood’s car is broken-down, but elsewhere–and the O’Goode’s car is broken-down where Slim found it, the fact that they are simultaneously close by being purely coincidence.

I feel sorry for the real Reverend, he will be waiting for Slim but Slim thinks he already found him!

The real Reverend will be waiting for Slim unless Upton has already murdered him along the way!

Earl and Gertie were more interesting characters.

H’mmm. Well, if Slim doesn’t show up, the real Reverend most likely will find a phone and make some calls!

Is there anyone out there who DIDN’T see this coming?

They certainly were, but I think Jim was clever to avoid the quick and expected resolution. I”m assuming he will take up that story again, and it will be even better for the intermission. Meanwhile, I think this could be a pleasant diversion.

axe-grinder, I didn’t hate the Earl-Gertie as much as some but PLEASE don’t say that if Jim had ended it with a different ending it would have qualified as a quick story. It went on WAY to long.

It’s a very simple-minded strip, when you’ve got the NEXT MONTH’S DAILIES worked out today…….Still, I think I’ll stay tuned, just fer funzies!

Hi, bassmanbob, No, I wouldn’t call Gertie and Earl’s arc a quick story at all, I was just referring to Jim’s avoidance of a quick resolution to it. I had expected to be in the midst of a Gasoline Alley wedding right now. Instead, we have this detour, and I suspect the resolution of Gertie and Earl’s arc will come at some later date. As for “too long”, that was the subject of much debate, with opinions on both sides.

I don’t see what could possibly go wrong.

The Reverend won’t be back for a month? Isn’t that like 3 months in Gasoline Alley story-line time?
