Our rabbi doesn’t charge members anything for officiating at life cycle events. A visiting or substitute rabbi would have to follow the minhag (custom) of the congregation.
On the other hand, Ramona Lisa and Upton aren’t members, so maybe a charge would apply. Seventy-five dollars seems cheap for nowadays.
My father was a minister. There was no charge for weddings or funerals but it was customary to give a small gift. It was also customary for the minister to give this little extra to his wife. The basic salary was not large. My church today charges for the use of the building, the janitor’s services, the organist, etc.
We got married on post by an Army Chaplain. Didnt cost us a dime. I didnt even have to buy a suit. And my wife’s dress was a family heirloom. We got off good. And it’ll be 25 years, this November!
Dypak — I can testify that’s no small feat even with the best lady in the world . Last Friday my best lady & I eat cake at our 50th . Sounds like a stretch for triple homicide . I haven’t a clue how she did it .

“How about for $30 I’ll just marry one of you?”

I don’t think Romana Lisa likes this idea of marriage. I think she wants to stay unmarried and pull this caper again in another town.

Our preacher says it’s part of his job and will not accept any extra.

Maybe the congregation can take up an offering to raise the $75 due to Upton’s change of heart.

I think a marriage between Upton and Ramona would be build on feet of clay. Please, a new story!
