Since Trump and the GOP trashed the Iran agreement and showed America’s word could no longer be trusted, we’re making ignoble deals to contain a nuclear Iran.
Sometimes you have to deal with unsavory people in order to achieve needed goals. Imagine how WWII would have turned out if the US and Allies had refused to work with Stalin.
We are dealing here with “geopolitical reality” – America cannot ignore the fact that Saudi Arabia controls O.P.E.C. for the most part, and until, the oil cartel becomes unnecessary to the world order, we must continue to deal with it. We don’t need to “suck up” to them but neither can we afford to totally ignore them, either.
The Saudi crown prince is an international criminal, but he is also the defacto leader of his country, so some small amount of caution is required – he cannot just be ignored, he must be delt with as a head of state – that is the current sad state of affairs – unless we want to devolve into the America of the 1950s where we replace their entire regime just like we did to the duly elected government of Iran – and we all know how great THAT action turned out over time!
Saud has the whole world over a barrel. What would Mr., Mrs., (he, she, they, them, it) Americans rather have’ National dignity or lower gas prices? Didn’t take much thinking did it!
