I’m a very good, careful and respectful driver. Once in a while, when I’m traveling at a reasonable and appropriate speed, some idiot will tailgate me. Depending on traffic, it can go on for a while. Usually they eventually change lanes and get out from behind me. At that point, I pick up a little speed, just to keep pace with them for a bit. I don’t even know if they notice, but it gives me a little satisfaction.
Usually when someone is “asserting their rights” in such a fashion, the person(s) taking offense at such actions actually did something, knowingly or not, to earn or warrant such aggression against them. Even if it’s something as innocent as driving an ostentatious or obnoxiously loud/big car, or whatever.
In simpler terms: Odds are Mr. Pillsbury was an a**h**e first.
With the gun-rights asserters, they’re likely reacting to people taking offense at their ownership and saying they shouldn’t have such rights in the first place. I know that the signs declaring “no firearms” within certain places of business (which is certainly their right) emboldens many open-carry “enthusiasts” into strapping on the holsters in places where they might not otherwise do so.

Well, did you signal you want to take a turn? If not, do not blame the other driver that he can’t read your mind…

That guy kind of deserves the Ben-Hur treatment.

He may well be an unreasonable gun fanatic just looking for an excuse…

I firmly believe that if you spend over $70K for a car, they give you a certificate that allows you to drive like a complete ahole.

I remember once my family driving into Chicago. Never mind not letting you get to your exit, no-one would let you change your lane!

You would think his fancy expensive car would be able to speed up faster than the other guy’s car – or what is the point of being rich.

We need a definition of “unreasonable gun fanatic”.

OK — I want to know why he’s driving in the first place. Where is the chauffeur???

Speed up like you want to get in front of him. When he speeds up to block you, tuck in behind him. Works every time.
