OK, everyone: a “fractured fairy tale” is a traditional fairy tale that has been subverted in someway, a parody of the original, to make it more modern and/or more humorous.

The Fractured Fairy Tales from Rocky and Bullwinkle were perfect examples of this, but hardly the only ones. Most Disney movies can be seen as fractured fairy tales.

There is to me, a certain comfort in nostalgia; my memories returning me to a more simple, carefree time, before the last vestiges of innocence had been stripped away. Nostalgia is as Albert Came opined, “Every act of rebellion expresses a nostalgia for innocence and an appeal to the essence of being.”
