Boy, that wouldn’t be tolerated today…Moe would be out of there, he would have to attend anger management classes, and Calvin’s parents would sue everyone in sight.
Calvin needs an Omnitix that way he could get revenge on everyone that was jerk to him and no one would know it was him cause he would be transformed into an alien that could take down anything. He could also hang out with Lio cause bullies don’t live long when Lio is around.
As I’ve said earlier today, Bill Watterson has explained that Moe is a caricature of the real-life bullies from his childhood. Someone has written of Brom Bones in the Disney version of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow “It always p***ed me off as a kid that Brom got the girl. He reminded me of every dumb bully who got off on making my life a misery.” Someone else replied, “I understand how you feel. I didn’t like him much either. However, in terms of love rather than greed, he’s more likeable than Ichabod.”
When I watched the Disney version of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow in the 1970s, I also assumed Brom was meant to be a bully. When I watched a live-action version in the 1980s, I realised the important point that Brom really loved Katerina whereas Ichabod wanted her money and social prestige. This point was also evident in the Disney version but I was one of the viewers too young to realise it.
I have since learned that Ichabod was partly based on Washington Irving’s own schoolmaster and Brom Bones was based on Abraham Marling, a blacksmith in Sleepy Hollow and a hero of the Revolutionary War.
I was bullied in high school for reasons I still don’t know why. Only when I got in the kid’s face and stood up to him did I finally put the matter to rest. The look on his face was priceless when I had had enough. Eyes as wide as saucers and the proverbial mouth drop. Never had a problem after that. But chuckcork1 is correct. This is why bullies do what they do.
The little kid who can’t remember his homework is in no position to insult the special ed kid who is a Defensive lineman for the Pop Warner football team.

I always enjoyed how Watterson made Moe’s speech bubble a lower-case scrawl as opposed to the uniform upper-case letters of everyone else.

The teachers were very good at “correcting” Calvin’s indiscretions but Moe could bully kids with impunity.

Intelligence is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is knowing not to put it in fruit salad.
Philosophy is knowing that ketchup is really tomato jelly, and a Bloody Mary is a smoothie.

Overheard at the playground yesterday and disturbing on several levels (no, I’m not making this up).
Kid #1: Remember when I said I was going to kill myself?
Kid #2, offhandedly: I can strangle you now, if you like.
Kid #3, enthusiastically: I will!
Kid #1 sprints away, followed by #2 and #3, one of whom shouts, “Get him!”

I wonder what made Moe mad in panel 1. Seems to me that bullies don’t normally threaten death unless the victim did something to tick them off.

Yep, there was a similar kid at my Junior High school.
Then, one afternoon, when the bully left to go home out a ‘back’ door to the school, there were about 50 kids waiting for him.
They held rocks, sticks, bats, knives, and one kid even had a gun he took from his father’s desk.
The bully slowly walked through the group of kids, and then ran.
He never bullied anyone at that school ever again.
