While all three of our cats are rescues, we have two pure bred dogs….BUT, my wife knew the breeder of our Corgi and he was the only one to survive the litter, rejected by his mother and had to be bottle fed since birth. He’s taken a bit of work to get him to “normal”. Our Aussie Sheppard was the only one left and it wasn’t looking very good for her as she’s tri color, not the desired muralled that everyone wants. She’s a good and beautiful dog though.
One of our sons-in-law insisted that mutts were a crap shoot. “With a pure bred you know what you’re getting.” I pointed out that his two children were chalk and cheese, and et they had the same parents – litter-mates, so to speak.
Well it’s true but there is a reason. We had a registered Pomoranian and since she was all black, we named her coffee. But that name had been used multiple times so we had to make sure she had a unique name in case she had purebred pups. So – we had to list her as: Black Walnut Coffee Cake.

My rule for pet names: no more than 2 syllables.

Usually, the smaller the dog the longer the name.

Mixed breeds are healthier. Visit a shelter and save a life.

Pure-bred or mix – all dogs deserve a good home. And add a cat for entertainment.

our girl came pre-named because she came to us from her previous owner, but we nicknamed her for what she did best: “poopy”…
