When we were ordered to work overtime, I realized that 1.5 x almost nothing was nearly something.
Fifty cents per hour, working 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year comes to $1,040. I wouldn’t mind someone giving me that amount of money, but how much of it goes directly to the government in taxes?

Jeez….don’t break your pocketbook boss. Of course that raise will be gobbled up by taxes, insurance hike, and overall inflation.
