As someone going through a months long decluttering at home, I have to remind myself: The “things” may be going away but the memories will remain always!
I got a wonderful pair of black patent leather “Sunday shoes” when I was in kindergarden & was so taken with them, I took them to bed with me for several nights, b/f my parents were able to talk me into having them on a chair by my bed.
My wife has a pair just like that but I think the ears and the tail have fallen off, she’s had them so long. I hug her a lot to make sure she doesn’t miss them too much.

They served you well, but finally became “rotten tails”.

When I was little, my dad gave me a pair of duck boots. They didn’t look anything like ducks.

Did they gave you a new pair of bunny slippers?

Something must be wrong with me. I’ve never been that close to any of my footwear.

I still have my Flopsy and Mopsy bunny slippers even though they don’t have bottoms anymore. They look like stuffed toys on the shelf.
