I haven’t sniffed a newspaper in years. Too expensive and outdated news.

Would that it were so… Death of the local paper will be the death of us as a society.

The only thing in our local papers are sports, more sports, ads, more ads and the same national news I can get a dozen other places… so I stopped getting a newspaper.

And you can ‘rest your eyes’ without having to wear sunglasses indoors. Have a content critter with you in the chair and it could take awhile to catch up on the ‘news’.

Until the pandemic I had and read the newspaper every day when we were not traveling. I read it after dinner on the kitchen table.

When the pandemic hit I did not like the idea of the putting the newspaper on the kitchen table (even though I normally put down an empty kitchen sized garbage bag under it to keep the ink off the table) so I started reading it online – included with our paper. I have put in “vacation holds” on and off to keep the cost down during the pandemic as the online version is still available. I recently decided that it would be some time – if ever – before I felt comfortable reading the paper on the table again. So I looked to order the online only version. Since I am a longtime customer (over 40 years) I pay considerably less than a new customer would taking out the subscription now. How much less? The actual paper, with no vacation holds, costs me half of what they want for the online version (and about 1/3 of what the paper version would cost to start now). I have not changed my subscription – after all – it hard to use the online edition under the item one is painting in addition to increase in cost I would have.
